Fragile

Fragile
Fragile and weak
We have built up our pride
Like bricks on a ball
It grows so high
Yet it is so quick to fall
For years we have struggled
To piece things together
To build strong foundations
And a skin made of leather
Until one tiny fleck
Comes and lands in our eye
We are left on our knees
We are left asking why

"Birthday Aug. 1st. I was wondering as time goes...
how many people remember you
and think of you? I think about you
every day your laught your smile and now
the pain is left
We wish you a happy Birthday
love you... Mom"

Fragile and weak, dependent, destroyed
Breakable girls and breakable boys
Left to gather up all that has shattered
Left to wonder if it all really matters

"The big sun balloon we bought you
from Safeway for your grave
got loose the balloon
proceeded its journey to the moon... how surreal
that when you were little you wanted to catch the moon...
and we had your favourite... carrot cake!!
and sang happy birthday at your grave
after that we had a big cry."

Miss you
Love you... Mom

Okay. First of all, it's a little intimidating to comment on poetry because there's the big concern of, "what if I say the wrong thing!?" So this is what I'm thinking. These parts in quotation marks. Are they taken from somewhere? Is this about someone real? That's what I wonder.

Not related to your post, but I note the blog is under reconstruction! Exciting ... if it's an indication of future blogging??

You weren't supposed to notice yet :). Apparently it's hard to be sneaky when you're working on the World Wide Web. It may be an indication... we'll see :)

This makes me very curious: "Make a life changing decision after I feel my first arthritis pain"

Yeah, I've considered cutting that one out but I love it just too much. It doesn't fit to my usual standards of being tangible and recordable, but for the most part I think it serves a good purpose. I guess we'll see when I get there.
